Maxine Stone Brown Corry, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
She was born January 8, 1916 in Ogden, Utah to John Melling and Jessie Mills Stone. After graduating from high school she attended two years of college.
On September 22, 1937, Maxine married Elmer Henry Brown in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She and Elmer established Roy Lumber Company and Brown Construction Company, which she continued operating after his death on March 1, 1960. On March 7, 1975, she married John Blaine Corry in Roy, Utah. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1994.
Maxine received the Roy City Outstanding Citizen Award in 1987. She was active in the American Business Women''s Association, the Aprender Guild, the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Weber County Republican Women.
She enjoyed her cabin in Yellowstone, traveling, music, painting and stamp collecting.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints attending the Roy Second Ward where she served as Ward Organist, Sunday School teacher and Relief Society teacher.
Maxine is survived by two sons, Gerald H. (Elizabeth) Brown, Roy; Larry S. (Kay) Brown, Roy; one daughter, Kayleen B. (William) Merx, Roy; a daughter-in-law, Celia K. Brown, Riverdale; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, a son, Scott M. Brown and both of her husbands.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31st at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
The family will meet friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
