Maxine Kieffer
BOUNTIFUL - Maxine Kieffer , 88, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008, with her family at her side, at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Bountiful, Utah.
She was born April 13, 1920 in Panguitch, Utah the daughter of Marion Henry and Ellen Maria (Nellie) Owens Englestead. She married Alvin Kieffer October 12, 1940, marriage later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple, April 19, 1942.
Maxine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple, and served with her companion in 1972 in the Independence Missouri Mission.
She traveled extensively as she and the family followed her sweetheart from airbase to airbase. She especially loved the years she spent in Hawaii but her roots were always planted deep in the Panguitch soil.
Maxine had been active in sports in her youth and loved to dance, especially the Hula. She also loved fishing and family reunions at the cabin at Panguitch Lake. Maxine was always providing compassionate service, she was generous, even to a fault. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children Alvin (Lois) Kieffer, Max (Elaine) Kieffer, Kenneth (Mary Lue) Kieffer and Karla (Ernest) Halford; 16 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; sister LaPriel Linford. Preceded in death by her husband, grandson Shawn Halford; five brothers and two sisters. A special thanks to the staff at Welcome Home for their loving care of our mother.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Bountiful 25th Ward Chapel, 600 E. 1500 S. Friends may call Wed. from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Thurs. 1-1:45 pm at the Church prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
