Maxine Burgoyne Laser

Maxine Burgoyne Laser, of Kaysville, died on April 5, 2015, in Layton, Utah at age 92.

Maxine was born March 29, 1923, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Elmer Strong Burgoyne and Irene Agnes Pearce.  She was raised in Montpelier and graduated as valedictorian from Montpelier High School. She then attended Utah State University in Logan and received a bachelor's degree in bacteriology and biochemistry in 1944.

Maxine married Theodore (Ted) John Laser on June 30, 1945, at Little Church of the Flowers at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on March 20, 1947.

While living in Los Angeles, Maxine taught chemistry at the University of Southern California and researched in the field of bacteriology. Maxine and Ted lived briefly in Farmington, Utah, before moving to Kaysville, where they raised their family.

Maxine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings, including temple ordinance worker, plus various leadership and music positions in Primary and Relief Society. She played the cello in the Kaysville Community Orchestra. Her hobbies included music, sewing, knitting, crocheting and swimming.

Surviving are four sons, T. John Jr., Bruce B., Curtis A. and Neal E.; two daughters, Wendy J. and Carol M.; 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three siblings, Dean, Donald and Myrle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville Rock Chapel, 200 E. 25 South, Kaysville. Friends may visit family at a viewing Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main St., and Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
