Maxine L Moss

CLEARFIELD a€" Max, as most knew her, always slept with the window open. As she described it, her spirit wandered unencumbered during the night. In the hazy hours before dawn March 29, 2012, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister and friend quietly slipped out the screen window a final time a€" without any fuss, as she preferred it.

Lila, a name by which she refused to be known, was born feisty and fearless November 23, 19-- (year left to the imagination per Max''s orders) to Junius and Charity Rasmussen Larsen in Mink Creek, Idaho.

She married Golden Monson Jensen a€" a debonair Kennedy lookalike three years her senior a€" October 21, 1944. To this union were born four children: Betty, Vicki, David and Leslee. The marriage was sealed in the Logan Temple April 13, 1949. The family later served a mission to New Zealand for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Golden preceded her in death September 21, 1965.

She married Carl Moss October 23, 1967. Their marriage was a committed bond that lasted nearly five decades. They were constant companions in everything, including and perhaps most importantly, yearly trips to Hebgen Lake that transformed into a multigenerational family tradition. Carl brought to the marriage two grown children: Carla and Scott.

Beginning her career as a clothing model for Bon Marche, Max went on to work as the treasurer for Clearfield City and later Freeport Center Associates.

She is survived by her husband, Carl; children, Betty (Morris) Parker, Vicki Jensen, David (Jeanene) Jensen, Leslee Larsen, Carla (John) Barton, and Scott (Terri) Moss; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her 4 siblings, Claudia Mitton, Donna Purser, Shirley Hartley, and Thayne (Margaret) Larsen. She was preceded in death by her 7 other siblings, Virgil Larsen, Roma Stimpson, Laurel Larsen, Rhonda Anderson, Elden Larsen, Farrell Larsen and Marilyn Larsen.
