Beloved mother and sister, Maxine Foster Pace, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her home in Holladay, Utah, on February 5, 2011.

She was born January 27, 1922, to Lawrence (Jack) Foster and Laura Agnes Welker in Safford, Graham County, Arizona. She later was blessed with a younger sister, Beth. Maxine was married to James Kenneth Pace on June 1, 1942, in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. Jim preceded her in death on November 21, 1996. Jim and Maxine are parents to one daughter, Janet.

Maxine was an appreciator and creator of beautiful things. An extraordinary seamstress, she crafted incredible doll clothes when she was very young. She graduated from Safford High School and pursued her talents by attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and Charrette''s School of Fashion Design in Los Angeles, California. Pursuing her passion, she designed and tailored beautiful dresses for herself and Janet. Any craft or sewing project was completed with perfection. In her forties, she discovered the joy of quilting. Maxine pieced by hand countless quilts and wall hangings.

Quiet selfless service was Maxine''s hallmark. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in countless positions including LDS Young Women''s Mutual, Primary, and Relief Society. For several years, she and her husband Jim drove from Riverside to serve each week in the Los Angeles California LDS Temple.

Through her entire life up to the end, she continued to express love and concern for family and dear friends. These last months and weeks have been filled with expressions of thanks for even the tiniest acts of service.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Janet Pace, of Holladay, Utah, and her sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Charles Alexander of Scottsdale, Arizona. Many loving nephews and nieces and their posterity also survive her.

A celebration of her life will be held at the LDS Valley View 11th Ward, 1925 E. Gunderson Lane (about 4100 South), Holladay, Utah, on Friday, February 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
