Our loving mom and grandma, Maxine Dickson Peterson our "Sweet Princess" passed from our hands into God''s early Saturday morning May 12, 2012. Maxine was born on October 22, 1929 to Heaston Elum and Edna Ruth Stone Cutlip. She was raised in Ogden, Utah. She attended Ogden City Schools and Stevens Henager College.

Mom had a hard life, but tried to always have fun along the way. She was born a week before the Black Tuesday stock market crash. She grew up during the great depression. Money was always tight. During her younger years she loved to go to the Berthanna Ballroom to skate. She met many friends there and always had a great time. She loved to dance.

She had a great sense of humor and loved a good practical joke. If there was a prank or joke to play on anyone she would be right in the middle of it, along with her partner in crime, Ann Thompson. They loved to scare the kids sleeping out, paint their faces black or just have a good water fight. Life was never dull in our neighborhood.

Mom was a lover of animals. She had horses, chickens, pigs, goats, and cats, but her favorites were always the dogs. She had many dogs over the years but her favorite was Sandy the big Golden Lab. Buffy her little Maltzer came into her life after Sandy passed away. Buffy brought her great joy and was a good companion to her until the end.

She was the comsummate caregiver. She lovingly cared for her mother, her father-in-law, and two husbands during the last months and sometimes years before their deaths. We were constant witnesses to her service to others. If anyone needed anything she would try to find a way to help them.

Mom loved us kids dearly. She put everything she had into her children. As a single parent she did a remarkable job of raising 5 kids. She tried to make holidays and birthdays special. She taught us that the important things in life were family. She loved us unconditionally. She loved our friends like they were her own. May of our friends thought of her as their second mother.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The gospel was very important to her. She always paid her tithing and said her prayers. She never missed watching General Conference. She had a testimony of the gospel and our Savior Jesus Christ. She knew where her "home" was and longed to return there. We are grateful for the gospel and the knowledge that we will be with her again.

Our mom was truly an "iron woman". During the last few years, mom endured quite a few health problems. Many of which should have taken her life. More than one doctor told us that she would not make it through the night. They didn''t know who they were dealing with. She surprised the experts many times, even getting well enought to make a trip to Denver to see her beloved son Gene one last time before he passed away. She was a tough lady and had a strong will to live.

Maxine is survived by her children, Ruth Ann Odden, Clarke Odden, Robyn (Gene deceased) Woods, Paulette and Ted Nelson, Allan and Debera Dickson and Tracie and Steve Yamashita; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by per husbands, Bill Andrews and Curg Peterson; son, Gene Woods; granddaughter, Laurel Carter; great-grandson, Tanner Yamashita Conover; parents; and twin brother Max Cutlip and siblings, Arnold Kouw and Mary Hoyle.

We would like to thank Dr. Alsup, Dr. Jordan, and Dr. Forstall for their good care. We also want to thank Dr. Hollad and the wonderful staff at Hospice for Utah for making her last month''s more confortable. Also to the amazing staff at Wasatch Care Center, thank you for taking such good care of our mother. She truly felt at home there. She told us many times about her friends that were there. Thank you for loving her like to did. You helped make a difficult decision much easier to bear.

Mom, we miss you already! We know that you are happy and free from pain and the restraints you have endured for the past few years. We love a love a love you!
