After a valiant 12 year battle against non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma, breast cancer, heart failure, kidney disease, and numerous heart attacks, Maxine W. Sears peacefully passed away on Monday, 28 September 2009 with her loving daughter by her side. She endured these trials and left us forever impressed by her courage, grace, and determination to overcome her medical challenges to remain here and enjoy her family for as long as possible.
She was born December 24, 1927 in Heber City, Utah to Cecil I. Wall and Mabel Mair Wall. Her early life was spent in Heber City where she attended Wasatch High School prior to moving to Ogden, where she was employed at Hill AFB. She later transferred to Tooele Ordinance Depot where she met and then married Ambrose K. Sears on May 19, 1951. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Richland, MO and Orleans, France before returning to Ogden, where she resumed her career at HAFB, retiring in May 1985 after 30 years of service. Mom always enjoyed her work at HAFB. She was an Inventory Mgmt Specialist in the Directorate of Material Mgmt.
She was a member of the LDS Roy 11th Ward. She treasured her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in various Church positions throughout her life. Mom had a deep and abiding love of her Lord and Savior.
She loved her husband and family dearly. We were always the center of her life. She loved doing things for us. She had a keen sense of humor that lifted our spirits and sustained us during the difficult times. She loved going to Weber State Games and watching BYU games on TV. She loved attending the grandchildren''s activities. She couldn''t wait for family dinners and game nights. She enjoyed shopping with her daughter and grandchildren. She had a green thumb when it came to tomatoes, flowers, and gardening.
She leaves behind her darling daughter, Karla Kay Christiansen and husband Brad; four grandchildren whom she loved very much, Randi Kay Ulibarri (John), Ryan, Cody, and Nicolle Litscher (Travis); seven great-grandchildren that she adored, Jordan, Erin, DJ, Desi, Jace, Addison, and McKenna. Also surviving is a brother and sister, Howard E. Wall of Phoenix and Dee Ann Muhlestein of Heber, a sister-in-law Nellie Wall of Tooele and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters Evelyn Greer and husband Bill, Viola Gillette and husband Ken, brother Dick Wall, and sister-in-law Deloris Wall.
Family and friends may call on Friday, October 2nd from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
At Mom''s request there will be no funeral, rather a brief graveside service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Mom, we will miss your quiet ways and words of praise and adoration that have always been a part of our lives. We know that you are happy to again be with Dad and all your loved ones who preceded you, and to be with our Savior Jesus Christ. We will always love and miss you. Your memories will continue to sustain us through our lives. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who have assisted in her care and especially to Dr. Vincent Hansen, Dr. Harry Senekjian, and Dr. John Wood.
Remembrance is a golden chain Death tries to break, but all in vain. To have, to love, and then to part Is the greatest sorrow of one''s heart. The years may wipe out many things But some they wipe out never. Like memories of those happy times When we were all together.
