Maxine Mildred Bucy Humphreys Stokes passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 of natural causes at Ogden Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 10, 1935 in Frazeysburg, Ohio to Dean and Bertha Bucy. She grew up in Ohio, went to school in Utica, OH, and in 1957 moved to Ogden.
She married Gary Humphreys and they were later divorced. This union produced three children.
On July 19, 1973, Maxine married Donald James Stokes, Jr. in Yakama, Washington. They repeated their vows on their honeymoon in Carson City, Nevada on July 25, 1973. After being married for 22 years, they solemnized their marriage in the Ogden LDS Temple on August 26, 1995.
She was a member of the LDS Church.
At the age of 13, she started working for her parents who were in the restaurant business. She spent her life in food service where she worked for 16 years at Weber State as head cook, and 15 years at IRS as head cook. She was always making salads for friends and neighbors. She always loved to do things for other people.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband, Donald; her children, Chris (Rich) Kap, Todd (Cynthia) Humphreys, Lisa (Mark) Thompson; stepchildren, Monte (Shelleice) Stokes, Donna (Gary) Wagstaff, Danny (Kathy) Stokes, Margo (Bruce) Loftus; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her main love, Pansy, her devoted miniature Shih-Tzu.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and a grandson, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
