Maxine Read Thompson

Maxine Read Thompson died on Thursday, July 19, 2012. She lived always with grace and dignity and was blessed to pass the same way.

Maxine was born on April 12, 1925 to Walter Thomas and Myrtle Cantwell Read in Ogden, Utah. She married David Ben Thompson on January 9, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They shared 53 wonderful years together with David preceding her in death by just 37 days. Her parents; a brother, Walter Jr., who died as an infant; and her sister Ruth Read Hellewell also preceded her in death.

Maxine''s life demonstrated her belief in the truth expressed by Richard L. Evans, that "God has given us no greater blessing than that of belonging to a loving and loyal family, and it will be so, always and forever." Her love and loyalty to her family, both by blood and by choice, knew no bounds.

Maxine''s life reflected her passion for giving. From her beautifully wrapped Christmas presents to her quiet gifts of service and sharing, each thoughtful expression brought her great joy. A spirit of generosity and service were a standard for she and Dave''s life together. They contributed to many worthy causes and numerous lives have been blessed by their kindness and love.

Maxine and "My Dave," as she fondly called him, were true partners in love and life. Together they traveled the world, gathered with friends and family, served others, and cheered for their Cougars.

Maxine had a long career with Western Airlines, retiring to serve with her husband as Special Representatives for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Holy Land. They also served missions and special assignments in Nauvoo, Illinois; Vancouver, British Columbia; Anaheim, California; and Hartford, Connecticut. Maxine especially loved her 26 years of service in the Young Women''s Organization. She and Dave actively served in any capacity needed. Wherever they served, they made a difference.

Maxine was a true disciple of her Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she followed throughout her life, enduring to the end with gratitude and faith. She survived by her sister, Delora Read Russell; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and many close friends whom she loved dearly.

She will be greatly missed.

Memoiral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends may visit family Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
