May Evans Gibson passed away at her home on May 11, 2017 on her 100th birthday in Ogden, Utah. She was born to Fredrick and Frances Evans in Bothwell, Utah, on May 11, 1917. She was raised in Layton, Utah for 16 years.
She married Dell Gibson on November 6, 1933; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She lived in Ogden, Utah, for the next 20 years. They moved to Richmond, California in 1953 and remained there for 31 years, returning to Ogden, Utah, and spent the remaining years of her life in Ogden.
She was an active member of 7th Ward in the Rock Cliff Stake. She has served in many different wards in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the years.
She worked for ten years for Carlson and Pevey Bakery Supply Co. in Oakland, California. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Disabled Veterans.
May was very talented with embroidering on pillowcases, quilting, and knitting. She loved crocheting doilies and giving them to her family and friends who were like sisters to her. May enjoyed yard work.
Surviving are her four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dell; son, Raymond; daughter, Karen;; two grandsons, Carl and Scott; great-granddaughter, Kandice; one grandson-in-law, parents, three brothers, three sisters, three stepsisters, and one stepbrother.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Rock Cliff 7th Ward, 300 Gramercy Ave., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
