Maynard Scheid Tippetts
December 8, 1934 ~ September 17, 2018
Maynard Scheid Tippetts passed away peacefully on September 17, 2018 surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born on December 8, 1934 in Provo, Utah to Vernal F. and Virginia Scheid Tippetts.
From an early age dad loved to hunt and fish. He had many wonderful hunting and fishing trips. He was always so proud to show off his catch. Dad attended Granite High School. He was athletic and played football and ran track. In college at Utah State he wrestled and boxed, winning a boxing championship.
He was also the strongest man we knew. He could not be beat in an arm wrestle.
Dad loved being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served an LDS Mission to Toronto, Canada. He always regarded it as one of the best experiences of his life. That is also where dad met his future wife Dorothy. After mom’s release they began corresponding to each other. After dad’s release and on their first date home they became engaged.
They were married on April 8, 1957. They were married until mom’s passing in 2011. After mom’s passing dad met and married Marilyn Christensen. Even though their time was short they traveled and had many wonderful experiences. She was a loving caregiver to dad and he loved and appreciated her. Dad loved to be outside. He grew an amazing garden and always had an immaculate yard. Dad’s friendly and outgoing personality made him many friends over a lifetime. Everyone remembered Maynard. He always told the same jokes, but he could always get a laugh out of someone. Dad also served in the Ogden Temple.
Dad is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Todd Tippetts and Troy Tippetts; and daughters, Tonya Olsen and Tina (Garth) Manning. He has 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Tippetts, Carlyle Tippetts, and Ann Cullum. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant sons, and one brother and one sister.
The family would like to thank Tara and the Hearts for Hospice family for the love and care given to dad, and would like to also thank Mountain Ridge Assisted Living.
