MC Swearingen, Jr.
MC Swearingen, Jr., 92, returned home to his Father in Heaven on Saturday, October 17, 2015. His wife and family were by his side. MC was the fourth of five children born to McCormick Neal and Florence Mae Lowrie Swearingen in Belcherville, Texas.
His love for his country led him to serve in both the US Army and the US Air Force for over 25 years. He served with distinction and honor in WWII (among the first wave of soldiers to land on Normandy Beach on D-Day), and the Korean Conflict receiving numerous medals, awards, and citations.
MC married the love of his life, Jacqueline Barnard on April 22, 1955. Upon his retirement they returned to Ogden to continue raising their four daughters. He taught them the important skills of fishing, catching worms, threading hooks, and then removing the fish from the hook! Even though his family was eventually spread all over the world he always knew where and how they were doing.
MC was always busy. He could be found at his favorite fishing hole or in his woodshop, but most importantly his time was spent with his wife and family.
MC is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughters, Cezanne (Paul) Brennan, Anita Bolt, Verleen Swearingen, Kathy (Richard) Lane, and Ann (Kenny) Durrant. His legacy was blessed with 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Florence Swearingen; three sisters, Agnes Pace, Juanita Baird, Hazel Plumlee; one brother Randall Swearingen; his mother and father-in-law, Myron and Edna Barnard Manning; sister-in-law, Nyla Thompson; and two sons-in-law, Jack Rohrback and Steven Bolt.
