Clinton, UT - McKay Winward Hansen, age 13, passed away on March 17, 2024, after a courageous ten-year battle with Neuroblastoma. Born on May 7, 2010, in Salt Lake City, UT, McKay was the beloved son of Nathan Larry Hansen and Shae Lyn (Winward) Hansen.
McKay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and excelled in various pursuits, including Cub Scouts, where he achieved the Arrow of Light award. He was also an avid member of the Zelda club at school and enjoyed participating in recreational soccer and baseball.
In his free time, McKay found joy in playing video games such as Minecraft, Splatoon, and Zelda, as well as constructing Lego sets and engaging in building projects. His thoughtfulness and ability to command a room were notable traits, as people respected his opinions and followed his advice without hesitation.
McKay received treatment from the best minds in pediatric cancer in various locations throughout the country (Salt Lake City, San Francisco, New York City, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles).
McKay is survived by his loving parents, Nathan, and Shae Hansen; siblings, Micah, Mariah, Mercedes, Mallory, and Malcolm; grandparents, Blair and Jackie Winward, Jannette and Alan Yorgason, and Larry and LaPreal Hansen; and great-grandparents, James and Carol Hansen. He was preceded in death by his other great-grandparents, and two cousins in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11:00 am. at the Clinton West Stake Center, at 2141 W. 1800 N., Clinton, UT. Friends may visit with family on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist Syracuse Mortuary, 869 S. 2000 W., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, West Point Cemetery.
