McKinley Jessica “Mak” Bone returned home May 15, 2024, at the age of 33. She was born January 14, 1991, in Ogden, Utah, where she lived through elementary school. She and her family moved to Ogden Valley where she completed junior high and high school.
Mckinley had a way of making everyone feel special. She had a heart of gold, making friends wherever she went. She was generous, charismatic, and one-of-a-kind. As a child, Mckinley loved writing, drawing, participating in student government, and spending time in nature.
She went on to study art at Weber State University. A natural artist with a keen eye, she amassed and shared paintings, drawings, poems, and music throughout her life. You rarely caught Mckinley without a journal on hand. She later became a prolific tattoo artist, even starting her own studio, which she named after her grandmother, Delores. She was featured in a local magazine for her work.
Mckinley valued the simple things in life. Loving mother, daughter, and sister, she was always close to her family, reaching out often. Her gifts to friends and family were heartfelt and personal. Her favorite place in the world was her family cabin in Island Park, Idaho, where she spent lots of time each summer with her family and pets. She always did have a special love for animals, seemingly never encountering one she did not want to adopt.
Throughout her life, Mckinley has gone by many names, but her most cherished moniker was always “Mom.” Her pride and joy in life was her beautiful daughter, Lucia. Together, they built a world full of wonder that just the two of them inhabited.
To have known Mckinley is to have been changed by her. She remains an integral part of the community in those who cherished her: a light that will continue to shine.
McKinley is survived by her daughter, Lucia Luna Bone; her parents, Fred and Denise Bone, and her brothers, Dakota and Montana Bone. Preceded in death by her beloved dog, Ludo; and her grandparents, Lewis and Delores Bone and Gary and Jody Charlesworth.
