Melanie Ann Lane
LAYTON – Melanie Ann Lane, 57, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at her home.
She was born January 17, 1957 in Orange, California the daughter of Shirley Mark and Doris Ann Kraft Lane.
Melanie married Louis James Poleate in October 1983. They were later divorced.
She served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Throughout her life she had lived in California, South Carolina, Okinawa, Washington, Wisconsin and Utah.
Melanie was a member of the LDS Church. She was a humanitarian and animal activist.
She loved knitting, listening to music, animals, spending quality time with her family, drinking tea, and playing online Mahjong.
Surviving are her sons, Erik James Poleate, Layton; Evin Michael Poleate, Las Vegas, NV; mother, Doris Ann Lane, Layton; brother, Donald Mark Lane, Billings, MT; sisters, Diana Kristine Lane, Layton; Mindy Catherine Lane, Fort Myers, FL; Donna Jenay Lane, Prudinville, MI; Marci Drucilla Lane, Portland, OR; and Bailey, Binx and Alexander.
Preceded in death by her father, Shirley Mark Lane.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Kays Creek Ward, 2435 E. Canyon Rim (1550 No.), Layton. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
