Melba Moss Burke
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Melba Moss Burke passed away September 20, 2017. She will always be remembered for her love and kindness. Melba and Roy were famous for making homemade chocolate peanut cluster, banana bread and other special treats for Christmas gifts. They liked to travel with their children and grandchildren going fishing, at Deer Creek. Melba would go with Roy to Missouri several times to visit his mother, brothers and sisters. Family was very important to Melba. She remembered everyone’s birthday with special cards and birthday dinners for grandchildren. Melba liked bowling, doing puzzles, watching the Jazz play and going to Wendover. She worked on the family farm while growing up in Clearfield. She worked at the Navy Base in Clearfield, Utah and DDO in Ogden, Utah for several years.
Melba was born January 21, 1923 to Robert Henry Moss and Agnes Amelia Carlen. She was the youngest child of nine children. She married Roy Eldon Burke May 16, 1942. He was the love of her life. They shared love with two children, Douglas Roy (Eileen) Burke and Sandra Kay (Lynn) Christensen, nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Eldon Burke, her parents, six sisters, Ida (Gayle) O’Driscoll, Mary Moss, Evina (Earl) Colemere, Della (Hawley) Reed, Myrtle (Jim) Prigmore, Lola Moss Farr, and two brothers, Charles Leroy Moss and Ervin Robert Moss (Norma).
Graveside services will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Clearfield City Cemetery, 1050 South State Street. Friends may visit family Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
