Melba Bronson Ward

Melba Bronson Ward, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 19, 2008, surrounded by her family.

She was born October 14, 1917 in Fairview, Idaho, the fourth of nine children, to George Amos and Roxie Zelnora Dopp Bronson.

Mom graduated from Preston High School and soon met and married Grant "Kott" Wade Ward. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to Utah and lived in Washington Terrace and Roy while raising their seven children, Rodney (Leanne) Ward, Riverdale, ID; Stanley (Peggy) Ward, Clearfield; George (Paula) Ward, Tucson, AZ; Karla (Tim) Hamby, Roy; Michael Ward, West Haven; Mark (Linda) Ward, Sandy; and Jerry (Kim) Ward, Roy.

Good memories are too numerous to mention but one common thread that all family and friends can remember mother by is her unconditional love and strength. Whether it was family or friends, there was always a place at the breakfast or dinner table for you. All can remember her famous breakfasts on Saturday mornings and her terrific Sunday dinners with homemade rolls or "Dough Dogs". She always had a huge garden, grew more than she needed and always gave away more than she kept. Anyone who touched her life came away with the knowledge that mom never quit anything, never complained about anything, appreciated everything and did her best to overcome all obstacles. She made everyone around her a better person.

Mom especially loved and enjoyed all of her 38 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was an active grandmother, going on trips, school functions and babysitting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Angus, Paul and Dee Bronson, four sisters, Rita Newman, Glenda Nelson, Miriam Golightly and Delpha Rasmussen. One brother survives her, Dow Bronson.

Our family would like to express sincere thanks to Bridget Sargent for the many hours she spent with mom, doing her hair and nails. She provided more than just service, she was mom''s best friends and she always brightened mom''s day. Additionally, we would like to thank the staff and residents at Stoney Brooke Assisted Living, for providing her with love and care, making her feel at home and us feel welcome.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
