Melburne David Chugg, 83, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018. He was born on November 3, 1934 in Ogden, Utah, to Melburne David and Neoma Hermina Teuscher Chugg.  He graduated from Ogden High School, earned a Bachelor and Masters at Utah State University and earned his Ed.D. at the University of Oregon. David traveled around as he went to school and gained experience teaching, living in Rupert and Grace, Idaho, for a few years as well as Logan and Ephraim, Utah. He then settled in Rexburg, Idaho where he lived for 37 years. After retiring, he has lived in Ogden, Layton and Bountiful, Utah for the last 15 years.

David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully on the High Council, as  a Bishopric Counselor, Financial Clerk, and Choir Director.

He was Chairman of the Music Department at Ricks College for 16 years where he taught for 38 years. David received a Person of Influence Award from Snow College where he also taught, and he was a member of the Upper Valley Music Teachers Association. He ran for Rexburg City Councilman. He also worked at Hill Air Force Base during the Korean War, since his colorblindness kept him out of the military.

David enjoyed construction and home remodeling, engine repair, model railroading, hiking, camping, reading, but especially spending time with his family (one of his favorite memories is climbing the Grand Tetons several times.)
