Melna Nish Schenk

The family of Melna Rowane Nish Schenk, celebrate her life after her passing to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at her home and surrounded by her family, from causes incident to age.

She was born in Plymouth, Box Elder County, Utah on April 13, 1924, to Robert Tims Nish and Jane W. Hess Nish, the 9th of ten children.

She attended Plymouth Elementary School, Logan Junior High and Logan High School where she graduated. She graduated from Cosmetology School in 1941 and worked at the Dixie Ruth Beauty Shop in Logan.

She married Charles Ervin Schenk on November 7, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to Ogden and then to Roy where she has resided for 52 years in the home they built together. Charles passed away on August 7, 1995.

Melna has been an active member of the LDS church holding various positions. She worked part time for 21 years in the Weber School District lunch program. She enjoyed membership in the Roi-Annes Club. She had a special talent for playing the piano and organ by ear, which she shared with many for 21 years in the Relief Society and regularly in surrounding Senior Centers and Nursing Homes. She also gave countless hours to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and at Lakeview Elementary helping many children with their reading. Her life revolved around her family and she cherished her family gatherings. Hobbies include visiting with family and friends, reading, sewing, needle work and crafts, gardening, cooking and baking goodies for her family.
