Melvin Fullmer
Melvin Fullmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away quietly on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, due to complications following heart surgery.
He was born September 16, 1924 in Driggs, Idaho, to Oscar and Lovina Ricks Fullmer. He was the second to the youngest of 11 children.
He spent his childhood in Tetonia, Idaho, later moving to Clearfield and then to Clinton.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a corporal during World War II.
He married Lois Hodson on May 19, 1945 in Layton, Utah. They are the proud parents of four children.
Melvin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He loved hunting, raising horses and cattle. He enjoyed watching old western movies and reading. He also loved riding his 1970 Harley Davidson motorcycle, and he especially loved taking his children and grandchildren water skiing in his boat.
He retired from Hill Air Force base after 35 years at the age of 55.
He is survived by his loving wife and three sons and one daughter, Terry (Cheryl) Fullmer, Clinton; Kent (Sherry) Fullmer, West Point; Melvin Lynn Fullmer, Roy; and Sandra (Randy) Dalton, Liberty. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Monday, October 27, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, West Point City Cemetery.
