Melvin C. Hackworth
WASHINGTON TERRACE a" Melvin Charles Hackworth, 63, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, of congestive heart failure.
He was born in Pampa, Texas on July 2, 1944 to Lois Biegle and Charles Hackworth. He was raised in Ogden, Utah by his aunt and uncle, Helen and Orlen "Lefty" Stuart. He attended schools in Ogden.
Mel married the love of his life, Cathy Ann Dearden, on March 1, 1968 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Washington Terrace 6th Ward and East Stake, where he held many callings.
Mel had a successful career in Law Enforcement from 1970 to 1998, where he touched many lives. He continued working as Evidence Custodian for the Roy City Police Department.
Mel was an avid reader, loved traveling and taking road trips with his wife, collecting records and coins, genealogy, and spending time with his family.
Mel is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cathy Ann Hackworth, Washington Terrace; four children, Kristi Ann (Marco) Cassador, Gig Harbor, WA; Stuart (Tracey) Hackworth, Roy; Justin Hackworth, Washington Terrace; Aaron (Tina) Hackworth, Roy; nine grandchildren, Natasha, Niquelle, and Alex Cassador; Cameron, Ashlee and Austin Hackworth; and Anya Keil, McKenna and Brooklyn Hackworth, whom he loved very much.
In honor of Mel''s life, funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet friends at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
