Melvin Nielsen Murray, 81, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017.

He was born March 14, 1936, in Wellsville, Utah, to Heber Parker and Jennie Nielsen Murray, the youngest of five children. His father passed away when he was eight years old and was raised by his mother and older siblings.

On August 4, 1955, Melvin married Ina Loree Bindrup in Logan, Utah. They had three children, Scott, Randy, and Julie. They lived in Wellsville, Logan, Amalga, Roy, and lastly West Haven.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for Jack B. Parson’s, Whitakers, and others.

He enjoyed farming, camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved traveling with Ina and their friends. His favorite times were those spent with his family and friends at Bear Lake, Little Mountain, and the pond in Wellsville.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Ina, two sons, Scott Melvin (Sherri) Murray, Randall Heber Murray, one daughter, Julie Murray-McKinney, seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Martha Glenn, Dean Murray, Kay Murray, Leta Ekins, and one grandson, Tyson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday, September 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
