Melvin Theodore Oscarson

Melvin Theodore Oscarson, 95, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 23, 1924 and lovingly reared and nurtured by his adoptive parents, Harry Theodore Oscarson and Ruth Vivian Tucker. Ted was raised in Salt Lake City, but has lived in Clearfield, UT for the last 15 years. He attended South High and also attended the University of Utah for one year.
Ted was very patriotic and loved his country. He served faithfully in the United States Armed Forces for over 38 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his ward family. He was ordained as High Priest.
Ted will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. Ted loved to write poetry and doodle with colors, making bookmarks and handing them out to church members.
Ted is survived by his wife, Mary Edna Hancock Oscarson; children from his prior marriages are Raymond (Beverly) Oscarson of Springfield, MO; Barbara Peterson of West Valley City; Robin (Leslie) Oscarson of Sacramento, CA; Lynn (Sheri) Oscarson of Salt Lake City; Richard Oscarson of Salt Lake City, UT; Lisa (Steve) Sharples of Kearns, UT; and Brent Oscarson of Salt Lake City, UT; 27 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna Thomas of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; son, Bill; and parents.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at West Park Ward, 315 East Chelemes (2200 South), Clearfield. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Rd., West Jordan.
