Melvin Joseph Van Woerkom

Melvin J. Van Woerkom, 86, passed away peacefully August 18, 2014, at the George Wahlen VA Home in Farr West, Utah. Melvin was born July 20, 1928, in Ogden to John K. and Dorothy Williams Van Woerkom.
Melvin graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State. He served in the Army from 1946 to 1948 and retired from Union Pacific Railroad as an electrician. Melvin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Melvin enjoyed time hunting and fishing with his sons.
Melvin is survived by his children, Scott (Dary) Van Woerkom, Jeff (Denise) Van Woerkom, Clark Van Woerkom, and Joy (Randy) Wirick; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sally Chugg Van Woerkom.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
