Melvin Brent Fullmer

Melvin Brent Fullmer, of Layton, Utah, passed from this life tragically when the car he was driving went off the Interstate and struck a barrier killing him instantly on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

Brent was born to Melvin Bliss and LaVon Phillips Fullmer on January 14, 1955, the 2nd of seven children.

He attended schools in Pleasant Grove.  He was a PG High School Viking and graduated in 1973.  After high school, Brent went to work and spent his life working in the construction field. He started at the bottom and worked his way up to become a Construction Project Manager on several commercial and industrial jobs.

Brent was a free spirit and some would say “hard headed.”  He loved to argue with his dad and might be doing that right now.  He dearly loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.  He had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren.

Brent loved the great outdoors and in his younger years spent lots of time backpacking, camping, skiing, hunting and riding horses.  He loved the time he spent living in Wyoming and Montana.  He especially loved traveling to new and exciting destinations with his wife Barbara.  Brent was an avid reader and a committed “Liberal.”

Brent discovered a decade ago that he had inherited his father’s bad hips.  He underwent several failed hip replacement surgeries and suffered through the pain of recovering from seven different procedures spanning the last five years.  At the time of his death he was living with his wife and son Zach in Layton, Utah.

Brent is preceded in death by his father Bliss.  He is survived by his wife Barbara, mother LaVon, sons, Brent, Eric, Cole, and Zach, sister, Kristine (Jerry), brothers, Phil (Cathy), Scott (Susan),Doug (Amy), Chad (Sue), Don (Jana), and four grandchildren, Dayja, Alexis, Chloe and Jade.

Brent’s remains will be cremated and cared for by family.  By his request there will be no formal funeral services.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
