Mercy Khamedoost

Mercy Esther Khamedoost was born June 30th, 1949, in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She left Ecuador after high school to live her dream of making a life for herself in America. After initially moving to New York City, she soon made her way to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she decided to settle down & married her husband, Mahmood Khamedoost. Together they raised 4 children (Mitra, Farnoush, Mehrnoush, and Jahan) who loved and cherished their Mom. 

 After being diagnosed with a stage four glioblastoma tumor, Mercy’s sheer will, strength, and determination to overcome the many obstacles of the disease gave her 15+ more blessed years on this earth. She outlived all the statistics and was an inspiration to many in her community. And, regardless of anything she faced, Mercy always had a smile on her face.

 Mercy spent this precious time creating countless more memories with her loved ones. She also had the opportunity to travel the world, visiting various countries, tasting local foods, and experiencing different cultures. Her quiet strength, caring nature, and kindness touched many, and she will be forever missed. 

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Mercy passed away on August 9th, 2024. She is now in heaven next to her beloved daughter, Mehrnoush. She is survived by her children Mitra, Farnoush, and Jahan. 

 Mercy’s family would like to give a special thanks to the team members at Lifecare Center Of Bountiful and Atlas Hospice for taking such amazing care of her. 

 Funeral services will take place at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Lindquist’ s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends and family may visit from 11:30 am -12:30 pm prior to the services. Interment will be at Bountiful City Cemetery immediately following the services where Mercy will be laid to rest.
