“Together Again”
Meriam Pledger Stephens passed away peacefully on December 29, 2013 joining her beloved husband, Rulon. Meriam was born on December 31, 1920 in Pleasant View, Utah. She was the daughter of Arthur and Sarah Johns Pledger. She attended Ogden City Schools graduating from Weber High School, Weber Academy College and Utah State College with her bachelors of science in Elementary Education. She was a school teacher and taught for a total of 23 years. In 1975 she was selected as an outstanding teacher.
Meriam married Rulon C. Stephens on February 12, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Meriam and Rulon were truly devoted to each other and their children thought their marriage was “made in heaven”.
Meriam was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in her lifetime. She was always a good example to her family. She and Rulon served in the Ogden Genealogy Library as research assistants. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, her sister, and brother-in-law. She loved spending time with her family and was a wonderful mother.
Meriam is survived by her daughters, Linda Collins, Janean Huss, and Lynette (Nevin) Heslop; daughter-in-law, Karen Stephens; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and brother, Richard (Pat) Pledger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rulon Stephens; son, Craig Stephens; grandson, Zachariah Huss; parents, Arthur and Sarah Pledger; sisters, Glenna Allen, Donna Brinkerhoff, and Helen Summers; and brothers, David Arthur Pledger and Robert Pledger.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain Ridge Assisted Living for all their loving care of our mother. Thanks to Tammy of Encompass Hospice for your loving care during her final days. A very special thanks to Janet Steed for beautifully styling her hair every Saturday which lifted and renewed her spirit. Love you mom until we meet again!
