Merle John Page
WEST POINT a" Merle John Page, 88, was reunited with his sweetheart on Tuesday, April 5, 2011.
He was born August 29, 1922 in West Point, Utah the son of Thomas John and Beatrice Thurgood Page.
Merle met his sweetheart Doris while working at Hill AFB. They married on November 30, 1946 in Salt Lake City and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Merle was in the Navy during WWII and following his discharge he worked at Hill AFB as a Civilian Parts Specialist for the Minuteman Missile Program. He retired from Hill AFB in 1976. He was active in the LDS Church serving in the Bishopric, Elders Quorum Presidency and Sunday school.
He loved grandchildren and spent all the time he could with them.
Surviving are three sons, Craig (Julie) Page, Syracuse; Don (Barbara) Page, Scottsdale, AZ; George Atsitty, Kirkland, NM; two daughters, Karen (Martin) Harder, West Point; Janice (Alan) Thornley, Nibley; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
Merle was preceded in death by his wife Doris, three brothers, one sister, his parents, one daughter-in-law and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the West Point 13th Ward, 3488 W. 300 No., West Point. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, West Point City Cemetery.
The family expresses their appreciation for all those that assisted during this difficult time, especially the Family Tree, Intermountain Hospice and the nurses and doctors at McKay-Dee Hospital.
