Merlin Edgar Daines

Merlin Edgar Daines passed away Monday, March 15, 2010. He was born October 14, 1941 to Edgar Leroy and Arvilla Olson Daines. He lived his life in Clinton, UT and the past 43 years in South Weber. He spent his life in the construction industry, owning his own excavation company and working until December 2009.

Our Dad was a collector of antiques, his favorite being his collection of vintage cars. He was a member of the Beehive Model A Club, where he made life-long friendships. He was a season ticket holder for Weber State Basketball, and rarely missed a game in over 40 years.

He is survived by his six children, Cindy (Rik) McDonald, Wendy (Randy) Kendell, Todd (Sheila) Daines, Tyler Daines, Travis (Jolene) Daines, and Mandi (Ryan) Draayer, as well as thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren who will miss their "Papa Mer" greatly, sisters, Lois Wood and Evelyn Chugg, step-brother John Curtis Watkins, and step-sister Shirley Ballantyne. He is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, one brother, and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Uintah City Cemetery.

Special Thanks to Huntsman Cancer Center and all of the people who spoiled him for giving our Dad as much time as they possibly could.

Dad, our memories of you are lifelong and plentiful, however, the last several months have been wonderfully rewarding and these memories will last our lifetimes. Your ''ideal world'' and tremendous wit will be cherished and missed by all that you have touched. Thank you.
