SOUTH OGDEN a€" Merlin LeRoy Ericksen, 96, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at a local care center.

He was born September 9, 1910 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, a son of Christian and Anna Christena Jensen Ericksen.

On June 1, 1934, Merlin married Elva Roueche in Pocatello, Idaho. From that union they had Dorrene, Jack and Vickie. They divorced in 1955. He married Irene Pate Setterberg on July 2, 1957 in Salt Lake City. Irene preceded him in death on February 12, 1995.

He was raised in Mt. Pleasant and moved to Pocatello, Idaho for work and lived in Richfield, Logan, Ogden and Bountiful, Utah.

Merlin was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held numerous callings. He served a mission with his wife Irene in Roanoke, VA. He was the owner of Ericksen Electric in Logan, and worked as a refrigeration electrician at Hill Air Force Base from 1954 until his retirement in 1980.

Merlin is known for his heart of gold and his generosity. He was always helping others.

Surviving are one son, Jack (Anne) Ericksen, Centerville, currently serving in the Garden City, New Jersey Mission; two daughters, Dorrene (Harry) Jeske, Ogden; Vickie (R.J.) Mattson, South Ogden; one stepson, Kurt (Candy) Setterberg, North Salt Lake; two stepdaughters, Carol S. Dimond, Sandy, UT; Linda (Anthony) Kloser, Highland, UT; 17 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Erickson, Provo; and Beatrice Justus, Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, stepdaughter Rita Rigby, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five brothers including his twin, and four sisters.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living Center, Aspen Care Center and Alpine Hospice, especially Fred and Jill for the love and care they generously gave to him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful LDS Tabernacle, 51 South Main Street. Friends may call at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Tabernacle from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful.
