Merlin Joseph “Joe” Hall passed away on April 16, 2024, in Ogden, Utah. He was born on June 27, 1940, in Salt Gulch, Utah to Morias Ensign and Claire Marie Walter Hall.
Joe honorably served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army.
He met and married Kay Marie Flower on April 27, 1967 in the Manti Utah Temple.
Joe studied Industrial Arts at Southern Utah State College and graduated in 1970. He taught Industrial Arts at Vale, Oregon and Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was an industrial mechanic at the Jim Bridger Plant in Wyoming for 22 years. After this, he started his own company doing handyman work in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
He was deeply involved in various hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He had a passion for scouting, woodworking, mechanics, exploring family history, fishing, camping, gardening, and most importantly, spending quality time with his beloved family.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joe actively served in various capacities such as a Bishopric Counselor, Scoutmaster, Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, Family History Coordinator, and Missionary service.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother and father, Morias and Claire, brothers Leslie Hall, Walter Steffensen; Mack Steffensen; and sister Marilynn Ross; He is survived by his loving wife Kay; 6 children; 12 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services for Joe will be held Monday April 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Syracuse 5th Ward Chapel, 1112 South 1525 West, Syracuse, Utah.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday April 21, 2024 at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
