Merlin Wayne Whatcott
LAYTON a" Merlin Wayne Whatcott, 77, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
He was born October 6, 1930 in Logan, Utah the son of Clemouth L. and Vesta A. Pulley Whatcott.
Merlin married Ellen Marie Shillington on June 2, 1954 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He filled a mission in Oklahoma and later with his wife in Indiana. He served as a temple worker for 20 years in the Idaho Falls and Ogden Temples.
Merlin was a Jr. High School music teacher for 35 years and enjoyed his business of tuning pianos. He had a great love for music.
Surviving are his wife Ellen; three sons, Blair (Liz) Whatcott, Layton; Neal (Cilla) Whatcott, Chaska, MN; Dirk (Cheryl) Whatcott, Orem; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, Ross (Bonnie) Whatcott, Bountiful; three sisters, Sabra (Vernon) Walker, Roy; Leola Freeman, Provo; and Elaine (Earl) Roueche, Bountiful.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Woodland Park Ward, 2300 No. University Park, Layton. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
