Merrill Lee Sorensen

Merrill Lee Sorensen passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 5, 2019. He was born to Ethel Giles and Roy Sorensen on November 7, 1936 in Ogden, Utah where he lived for the entirety of his life.

He married Leah East in 1957 and had three children: Kevin, Janeil, and Kyle.

Merrill is survived by his wife, Leah; two sons, Kevin (Teri) and Kyle (Ilene); 5 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Janeil (Jeff); sister, Donna Mercer (Hod); sister, Marlene Mezenen (Bert), brother, Darrell (LaDean); and his loyal black lab, Knuckles.

Merrill was an avid outdoorsman. Upon his retirement you could find him at Willard Bay daily. He also enjoyed gardening and was never hesitant to share his vegetables and flowers with his family and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chancellor Gardens Care Center for their excellent care of Merrill during his stay there.
