Merrilynn Godfrey Hillier

Merrilynn Godfrey Hillier rejoined her beloved husband, Herbert on March 17, 2013, after about fourteen months of separation. Merrilynn was born in Clarkston, Utah on April 5, 1924 to Brigham Wilfred and Jennie Thompson Godfrey. She attended school in that area, graduating from North Cache High School in 1942. Merrilynn was a stunning beauty. As a co-ed she did some modeling and won several beauty pageants. On September 10, 1947 she married Herbert Hillier in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple had two sons, Kevin and Brett. She loved her boys very much.

She worked at the Defense Depot Ogden in the Finance and Accounting Division for twenty years. She then transferred to the same division at Hill Air Force Base where she worked for another fifteen years as a Financial Secretary at Mount Ogden Middle School. She really enjoyed her ongoing association with the students, teachers and administrators. Merrilynn was also a member of several civic ladies'' organizations and volunteered at Ogden Regional Hospital.

Merrilynn loved the beauty found in nature, especially trees and lilies. She especially enjoyed traveling. She and her family took many vacations as the boys were growing up. Later on she and Herb went to Hawaii, Japan, China, Hong Kong, as well as many European countries. Her "dream come true" was when she and Herb flew to London and sailed from Cherburg France to New York on the QE2 cruise ship.

She loved interacting with others. She was genuinely interested in the details others would share and could recount them with pinpoint accuracy. Merrilynn loved to shop and surrounded herself with beautiful things. She had impeccable taste and sense of style. Many of her fashionable clothes and household items went to deserving charities such as the YCC and Dress for Success type organizations.

Merrilynn is survived by her sister and best friend in all the world, Elizabeth Lott; sons, Kevin (Karen) and Brett; granddaughters, Cortni (Sean) Johnson, Camdin (Josh) Oltrogge, and Bethany (Taylor) Burnham; grandsons, Tanner and Ryan, four great-grandchildren and brother, Ralph (Ruth) Godfrey.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary.
