Michael Dean Coombs

(1958-2016)

Our father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend continued on his journey on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Mike was born on January 8, 1958 to Dean and Darla Coombs in Ogden. He was the middle of three children.

Mike was the 9th grade Class President at Mount Ogden Jr. High and a member of the Acapella choir. He then graduated from Ogden High School in 1976. He began his career at D&M Distributing and later became President and part owner with Dean and Darla Coombs and Marc Baker. He enjoyed his job and providing meat products to many local restaurants and vendors. Mike was married to Jill Stacey Dahle; they later divorced but remained very good friends.

Mike was full of life and loved to have fun by playing pranks on those around him. He made friends easily throughout his life and enjoyed barbequing in his backyard and listening to oldies music. Boating, snowmobiling, water and snow skiing, NASCAR races, and especially traveling were some of his favorite hobbies. Flaming Gorge, Island Park and Pineview Dam were a few of his favorite places to visit. He was also a member of the Pineview Yacht Club. Mike was an avid Utah Jazz and LSU fan and especially enjoyed games against the Alabama Crimson Tide for the fun rivalry he had with his daughter, Carli. At any given time, you could find Mike watching Fox News or The Voice on TV. He loved supporting local businesses and restaurants in the area and had his favorite restaurants he would frequently visit.

Mike is survived by his father and mother, Leo Dean and Darla Selzle Coombs of Riverdale; two siblings, Shari Baker of Ogden; Susie (Frank) Gallegos of Ogden; daughter Carli Jyl Coombs of Roy; and son Cory Gene Hudman currently serving in Afghanistan. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Bryden and Kaytri, whom he loved dearly, and his partner Bonnie Bea Bennett of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jake and Millie Selzle; Ervin and Iona Coombs; brother-in-law Marc Baker.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Alpine Church, 5050 S. 1275 W., Riverdale, UT 84405.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be donated to R.I.T.E.S. Inc., an organization he and his daughter greatly supported, 2465 N. Main St. Suite: 2 Sunset, UT 84015 or by calling (801) 779-7402.
