Michael Corgiat

Michael Charles Corgiat, our dear husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, passed away on March 10, 2016 due to complications from heart-surgery.  Michael was born on November 13, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to Frank and Evelyn (Brown) Corgiat of Clearfield, Utah.  He was married to his high school sweetheart Betty Lue Fisher on March 10, 1966 in the Salt Lake City Temple.  They were blessed with three children.

Michael resided in Syracuse, Utah for over 30 years until the passing of his wife Betty in 2001.  He married Judy Tiller on November 8, 2002, and moved to Herriman, Utah where the two of them had a wonderful 13 years together.

Michael served as a proud member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Upon his release from the Army, he continued to serve in the Army Reserves, and was employed for over 34 years as a technician for Xerox.

Michael was a devout member of the L.D.S. faith, and held numerous callings and positions throughout his life.  He had a strong love and deep support of the Boy Scouts where he spent countless hours in helping the youth.

Michael has a love for cars, especially for Corvettes.  He was able to fulfill his childhood dream in 1994, when he purchased his first Corvette.  He became a member of the Corvette Club of Utah and has been an active and proud member ever since.

He has a great love for his family as they were the most important thing in his life.  He always felt very blessed to have the family that he had, and would do anything and everything possible for them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Betty, and a brother Fredrick “Fred” Corgiat.

He is survived by his wife Judy, children Michelle (Shane) Evans, Syracuse; Chad (Sharla) Corgiat, West Point; Melanie (Mark) Blevins, Colorado Springs, CO; two step children, Jaime Dlugas and Ryan Tiller, Salt Lake;  two brothers: Frank (Vicki) Corgiat, Roy;  John (Sue) Corgiat; Seattle, WA; and a sister Myrtle Corgiat, Sacramento CA.  He has 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton  Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Rd.  Friends may visit family on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment at the West Point City Cemetery.
