Lasting over twenty-eight years, the flame of Michael W. Davis, has now faded into the smoke of
eternity. Michael arrived into this world at the Mountain Home AFB hospital in Idaho, late May of 1996, to Robert and Ruth. Blue-eyed and blond-haired, he was our “little spud.” Many years and endless tests later, we would learn that Michael was afflicted with Angelman’s Syndrome. This left him without intelligible speech and a limited ability to walk or provide self-care. However, Michael possessed the daylight-intense, joyous, uplifting smile that cheered people up, even on their worst of days. Michael was instantly loved by all that received his greeting.
Michael’s Angelman’s Syndrome meant he had a unique fondness for water. Often times we would be driving with him on a road trip and we’d pass a river or lake only to hear him break out into full-blown happiness. Water parks were some of his favorite hangouts. Michael also enjoyed a delicious and fulfilling weekly breakfast with his family at Chris’s Cafe in Clearfield.
Michael attended public schools culminating in graduations from Clearfield High School and the Vista Education Campus in Farmington.
Although Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leland, Afton and Olga, along with his uncles’ Byron and David, he is also survived by his grandfather, Harold, parents Robert and Ruth, brother Chance, aunts Susan (Jim) and Amy, and cousins’ James, Tytan, Wynter and Ryver.
We would like to thank the TLC (Training in Life Choices) staff at his group home and Day Program, Kylie, Avery, Indigo, Emily and other amazing caregivers for their daily care of Michael; Shonna Smiley at Intersect Services; Holy Cross Hospital – Davis staff: P.A. Strong, Dr. Dagar, R.N.’s Dakota and Candace.
Michael was a very unique and beautiful young man. We were all blessed for having known him and for having his cheerful disposition in our lives. The world was always a better place when Michael was present.
A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:00 AM with a Remembrance/open mic from 10:00-10:50 AM, at Lindquist Mortuary – Syracuse on August 22, 2024, followed at noon by a small graveside service at Memorial Redwood Cemetery in West Jordan.
