Michael Neal Melish (Doman)
Michael Neal Melish (Doman) 32, of Ogden Utah, passed away at McKay Dee Hospital on February 10, 2013. He was born in Idaho Falls on June 11, 1980. He attended Snowcrest Jr. High School and Weber High School.
Mike grew up surrounded by cousins who adored him and would do anything for him. He passed away surrounded by many of those cousins who would still do anything for him.
Michael had a special bond with his grandparents. He loved any time he could spend with them, whether it was the countless hours riding in the pickup, listening to country music with Grandpa while they checked the farm; or snuggling up to read with Grandma.
Michael was born to a mother who adored him from the moment he arrived. Through all the challenges that they faced together their relationship only grew stronger. As time past and Mike grew more independent his mom struggled with letting go. The time they spent was so precious to her. Sundays became their special time together. Janeal would visit and watch a movie, listen to music and just hang out with Mike before his Sunday nap. For both of them it was a day that brightened both of their spirits. Mike would light up when his mom entered the room, and all the week''s stress faded away for Janeal when she saw Mike. His life defined and shaped her life and she feels blessed to have had the honor of being his mom.
At eight Mike wasn''t sure about getting a new baby brother, but that quickly changed. Mike and Laird loved to play baseball: Michael pitched, Laird batted and their dog Phoebe played outfield and brought the ball back onto Mike''s lap where it all began again. Over time the roles changed between the two brothers. Mike was always the big brother, but as they grew Laird became Michael''s protector. Laird and Mike always had a special connection. The two of them communicated on a different level than most and Laird always understood what Mike needed when others could not. Mike depended on this from Laird and trusted Laird to know how to help him when he needed. Throughout his life and to his last moment, Laird was there for Mike.
When Michael''s mom re-married he inherited a sister and a new brother. Charlee and Kedric were immediately taken by Michael''s gentle, kind way and quickly formed a loving relationship. It was a special time for our family when Mike came to visit, and we all knew that we would be watching game shows and movies for hours. Charlee and Kedric made Mike a priority and would cancel all other activities when they knew he was coming to visit.
Mike''s greatest talent was making people laugh. He had a unique ability to say or do the most unexpected and funny things. We can''t seem to tell a story about Mike without roaring with laughter.
His favorite past time was watching game shows or movies. He loved Wheel of Fortune and enthusiastically yelled "money!" and clapped when people would win. He was so happy for them! He knew all the funny phrases in his favorite movies and always knew just when to say them to get a laugh from everyone.
Through all of his challenges, Michael was a strong, loving and very charming young man. He was incredibly special to his family and the people who knew him. We will miss the fun and the sweetness he brought to everything he did.
Thank you Mike for all that you taught us. We are better for having known you.
