Michael E. Bayard (Helms)

On the morning of Thursday, October 13, 2011, our sweet husband, son, brother, step-father, uncle and friend, Mike passed quietly from this world into the waiting arms of his many loved ones.

Mike was born February 20, 1955 in Ogden, Utah to Eva Illum and Philip A Bayard, Jr. He was raised by his mom, Eva, and Wayne Helms, who taught him that anyone can be a father but it takes someone special to be a "Dad". Mike learned these lessons well and applied them in the very special relationship he had with his own step-children and as "Pappy" to his grandchildren.

Mike grew up in UT, WA, CA and Okinawa; he was truly a man of the world. He returned to Utah in 1979 where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was married a few times and finally found his true soul mate, Mimi Milligan, and they were married on December 16, 1999. Their devotion to one another was unparalleled. They were truly two halves that made a greater whole.

Mike worked at DDOU and Hill AFB, retiring in November 2010 after many years of service to his country.

He is survived by his one true love, Mimi, his parents, Eva and Wayne Helms, four brothers, Carl (Lisa), Craig (Margo), Duane (Diane), Bill (Tina), three wonderful step-sons, Chris, BJ and Trent (Christen), his grandkids who were the stars in his eyes, and many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 18th at 2 p.m. at the Plain City Cemetery, 1975 North 4425 West.

The family will meet with friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, tie dye optional.
