SOUTH OGDEN a€" Michael D. Maccarthy, 42, loving husband, father, son, and friend was called home on Thursday, July 12, 2007.

He was born December 30, 1964 to Dennis Roger Maccarthy and Carolen Lee Eddy in Ogden, Utah. He learned the importance of family early in his life through playing ice hockey with his two brothers in the Golden Spike Hockey club. They spent a great deal of time traveling together as a family to several states for games. They raced motorcycles, and also worked along side each other at the family tile company. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1983 participating in the JROTC program.

In 1987, Mike went on his first and last blind date. He met his eternal companion a€" Angela Laymon that night. They were married November 19, 1988 in the Ogden, Utah Temple. Three children blessed this marriage; they love their father and will miss him deeply.

He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. In March of 1993, Mike found the job he was best at, working for Ken Garff in Ogden as a Tow Truck Operator. He served many people and met many friends both at the shop and through connections with his job. He found a respect for the different law enforcement officers he was able to work with.

Mike was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous callings to the very best of his ability, some of which were Elder''s Quorum President and Ward Mission Leader. His favorite callings have been those of serving in the Scouting Program. He became an avid Scouter, serving on the Roundtable Staff and Silver Wolf Staff. He looked forward to his upcoming Woodbadge Training. For the past four years, he looked forward to Wednesdays as he served as Webelos leader. He cherished teaching and serving those boys, including his own sons.

Mike leaves behind his wife Angela, three children, Jody Maccarthy, Ryan Maccarthy and Josh Maccarthy. He also leaves behind his parents, Dennis and Carolen Maccarthy, two brothers, Kevin (Tracy) Maccarthy and Scott (Tanya) Maccarthy.

Mike was not large in stature, but was a giant of a man. His infectious personality and serving attitude will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the overwhelming support of neighbors, friends, and ward members. We have been so blessed by your compassionate service.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17 at 11 a.m. at the South Ogden Adams Ward Chapel, 3755 Porter Ave.

Friends and family members may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the ward chapel from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
