OGDEN a" On Monday, October 19, 2009, our beloved Mike unexpectedly returned to his Father in Heaven while doing what he loved.
Mike was born April 14, 1953 to Beatrice "Betty" Lopez and Jose "Willie" Guillermo Martinez and was raised by Betty and Kenneth Guild in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Ben Lomond High in 1971. He enlisted in the Navy following graduation and was deployed to Vietnam for one year. He then returned home to marry his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Terry Lynn Child in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple on June 30, 1973. He served in the Navy until 1977. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserve 419th Fighter Squadron and was currently serving as a Master Sergeant at the time of his death. Mike''s childhood fascination with aircraft is what led him to initially work as an F4 mechanic, eventually leading into the C-130 program as a Master Scheduler. Mike cycled to work daily for many years with disregard for the elements a" bikes were his hobby and passion.
Mike loved creating and nurturing relationships. Anyone that met him loved him instantly. Mike loved work, his co-workers and friends, but he especially loved his family. Mike made countless sacrifices to provide for others needs above his own. He loved his children dearly and he loved spending time on the floor with his grandchildren more than anything a" he was their "Poppy".
Mike is survived by his mother Betty, several sisters and a brother, Pamela Brown, Patricia Colombini, Tresa Guild, and Kenneth Guild Jr.; his wife Terry, his daughter Amber and his favorite ex-son-in-law Cameron Goldsberry, his son Mikie (Stephanie) and youngest son Joshua; grandchildren Hunter, McKinlee, Cortland, Benjamin and Noah. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Doris Borger and her children by whom he was considered a brother.
He was preceded in death by his father Willie Martinez, his sister Kathy Guild, his step-father Kenneth Guild, father-in-law Lee Ray Borger, and grandparents, Robert Lopez, Mercedes Griggs, and Robert Griggs.
A viewing will be held Thursday, October 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., where funeral services will be held Friday, October 23 at 2 p.m.
Interment to follow services at Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road where Military Honors will be accorded.
