Michael Kay Moyes

September 19, 1945 ~ September 20, 2015

Michael Kay Moyes passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015, one day after his 70th birthday.

He was born September 19, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to Norman Kay and Fern Kennedy Moyes. He attended school in Ogden, and graduated from Ogden High School. He also attended Utah State University and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He joined the Army Reserves.

On September 24, 1969, Michael married Diane Creer. They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this week. Together they raised two children in Ogden.

He worked for O.U.R.D/Southern Pacific Railroad for 20 years and then Kimberly Clark for 20 years. He retired from Kimberly Clark eight years ago.

Michael enjoyed the outdoors and doing yard work, camping and all animals. He loved old cars, trains and airplanes. He enjoyed going to the Hill Aerospace Museum, and loved to watch drag racing on TV. We loved him so much and we appreciate how he took such good care of all of us. He will be greatly missed.

Michael is survived by his wife, their daughters, Michele (Mike) Thompson, and Melissa (Devery) Goodey, and three granddaughters, Hailey and Brooklyn Goodey, and Sierra Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Norman Kent Moyes.

The family would like to thank the ICU team at Huntsman Cancer Institute for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank Dr. Carl Gary, Jan Davis and the nurses in the infusion unit at Utah Oncology for their care.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Hooper Cemetery, 5290 South 6300 West. The family will meet with friends Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
