Michael J. Murphy

Born:  July 31, 1948

Died:  February 6, 2021

Michael was born to James L. Murphy and Helen Driskell Murphy.  He was brother to Dennis N. Murphy – deceased (Lanice), Patty Jones, Jamie (Dirk) Jones.

He attended Clearfield High School graduating in 1966.  He also attended Weber State University,

Michael married Karen McKenzie Murphy in 1968, later divorced.  He was father to Michael Sean (Jamie) Murphy and Jennifer Murphy Lee (deceased).  Michael later married Kathy Banks, later divorced.

He worked his entire career at Fram Corporation (Allied Signal/Honeywell) as a supervisor.

Michael loved to fly fish on the Greys River in Wyoming.  He was also an avid golfer, spending time with friends on the Round Valley Golf Course in Morgan, Utah where he worked as a starter for many years and made some dear friends and fond memories.  He also made dear friends golfing throughout the valley.  Michael was a beautiful artist both in oils and through his photography.  He was a handyman and could fix anything or make anything he set his mind to. Later in life he loved to cook good food and made wonderful bread with only his one arm.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandparents, brother Dennis and his daughter Jen.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the health care providers and staff at South Ogden Post Acute for their many kindnesses.  We are also grateful for the kindness extended to us by Lindquist’s Mortuary and their wonderful people.
