Michael Echii Sakashita

Michael Echii Sakashita, 59, passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.

He was born on July 16, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James and Lillian Sakashita. He graduated from Ogden High School. He served in the United States Army. He married Sharyl Davis on November 24, 1978.

Michael dedicated his life to his family, supporting his wife and raising eleven children. Michael worked at Utah Noodle Parlor, helping Leo and Mamiyo Iseki, whom he was raised by. He also was employed at Hill Air Force Base. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, as well as participating in, competing in, and instructing judo as a second degree black belt.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sharyl Sakashita; daughters, Kimberly (Sean) Pickett, and Tracy (Michael) Zitting; sons, Michael J. Sakashita, Charlie Elliott, Adam Elliott and Bill Elliot; mother, Lillian (Larry) Sugihara; aunts, Mamiyo (Leo) Iseki and June (Shinji) Ichida; sisters, Jean (Larry) Peterson, Laura (Michael) Spencer, and Wendy (Brian) Kunz; brothers, Mark Sakashita and William (Pam) Sugihara; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send special thanks to McKay Dee Cancer Center, Ogden Home Health, The Allen Family, and Hill Air Force Base for going above and beyond in helping Michael over the last two years.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
