Michael P. Salvo
OGDEN – Michael Paul Salvo, born November 25, 1949, eldest son of Betty and Paul Salvo, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at home while recovering from recent heart surgery at LDS Hospital.
Mike graduated from Ben Lomond High School with the class of 1968. Shortly thereafter he married Becky VanLeeuwen, hired on at McKay-Dee Hospital, and began a career as a respiratory therapist. Life beckoned and Mike heeded its call. After leaving health care he and his budding family traveled the country, soaking up the heartland with intent to find peace for themselves during a time of ubiquitous unrest.
Upon returning to Utah, Becky contracted a progressive form of MS, prompting Mike to apply skills learned and self taught to their twenty year battle. His unbridled dedication earned him respect he rarely believed deserved. Devoted father to daughter Aimee and son Joshua, Mike was a caregiver, provider, friend, and brother.
Mike married a second time to another Ben Lomond graduate, Clela Bailey Madsen. Their union forged a profound commitment to their children, grandchildren, and one another. The magnitude of his personality no longer present has left a hole that shall forever go unfilled.
Mike is survived by his wife Clela, daughter Aimee (Terry) Greely, son Josh (Gina) Salvo, his six beloved grandchildren that meant everything to him, McKenna, Trey, Delani, Kade, Kasia, and Ireland; his parents Paul and Betty, brothers, Bruce (Lori), Patrick, Frank (Sheila), John, and sister Lisa (Nick), stepson Adam (Natalie) Madsen, their two children Ethan and Hattie, stepdaughter Emily Madsen, and his many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Becky, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
