Michael F. Santos
RIVERDALE – Michael F. Santos “Hightower”, 52, passed away suddenly at his home in Riverdale on Wednesday, September 10, 2008.
Michael was born July 17, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, to Chi Chi Felix Santos and Winaford Collins. He later moved to California where he graduated from Inglewood High School. He moved to Utah where he attended and played basketball at Utah State University. He later played professional basketball and traveled to many foreign countries.
He married Denise Watkins in 1978 and they had one son, Antonio Santos. They were later divorced. He married Joy Liesenfelt on June 2, 1997 in Ogden.
Michael graduated from the Police Academy and then joined forces with the Ogden City Police Department in November of 1986 where he served the City of Ogden until his retirement at the end of July 2008. Michael was the recipient of many awards for his achievements through his work at the Police Department. At the time of his death, he was working for Northern Utah Protection and Transport Company.
Michael is survived by his wife, Joy Santos, his children, Antonio Santos, Missy Baumgartner, Nikki (John) Sharp, Michael Warriner, Stephanie Warriner, Tricia Mayo, and James (Stacie) Mayo, along with 27 grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Also surviving are his good friends, Michael and Bonnie Henry.
Preceding Michael in death was his mother.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 18 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Honors will be accorded by the Ogden City Police Department.
