Michael Wilson

January 24, 1947 — August 31, 2018

Michael Stirland Wilson, 71, a friend to all, left this world on August 31, 2018 after a short fight with pancreatic cancer.  Mike was born in Logan, Utah on January 24, 1947 to parents Donald L. and Lucie Stirland Wilson.  He graduated from Davis High School in 1965.

He was employed by Hill AFB for 38 years and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 23 years. During his active Army years, he trained as a Medic and also in dental work.   He transported many wounded soldiers from Vietnam to hospitals in Thailand, The Philippines, Texas and California. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major.  He also studied chemistry at Weber State.

He married his sweetheart, Judith Louise Adams on July 14, 1972 in the Ogden LDS Temple and together they raised their three children in Layton.

Mike loved the Lord and his family first, and his three boats next. He and his family spent many hours building strong relationships on the water.  He had a natural ability to fix anything and could always find the proper tool in his garage for any project.  He loved spending evenings in his front yard where he could see his cherished mountains and greet passersby. He was known as a humble, gentle, stable and kind man who loved sharing stories with family and his many lifelong friends.

Mike was a faithful member of the LDS Church where he proudly served as the Executive Secretary to three stake presidents.  He was thrilled to finally serve a mission with Judith in the Ireland Dublin Mission where he made lasting friendships.  Mike and Judith also served as Ordinance Workers in the Ogden LDS Temple where they first began their married life together. At the time of his diagnosis he was serving as High Priest Group Leader.

Mike is survived by his wife, Judith; his children, Alesia Wilson (SLC), Lori and Theron Vest (Syracuse), and Michael Adam and Aislynn Wilson (Layton); and his beloved grandchildren, Allison and Levi Forsberg, Caleb Vest, Brinnlie Wilson and Seth Wilson.  Also surviving is his sister, Patricia (John) Fewkes, and his father-in-law, Elias Harris Adams.  He will also be missed by several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Ethel Howard Adams.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northridge Stake Center at 2375 E 3225 N, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
