Mildred “Millie” Dunn

February 13, 1928 ~ November 3, 2016

Mildred “Millie” Dunn, our sweet mother, grandmother and friend finally got to go home. Millie passed away surrounded by her family on November 3, 2016 at the age of 88.

She was born on February 13, 1928 in Eden, Utah, daughter to Ollie May and Pierce Graham. She had 3 sisters that she loved dearly: RuthMae Manning, Kathleen McFarland, & Myrle Ehmann. Millie loved her life story and childhood of living in the Valley.

Millie married Edward Nelson in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on August 17, 1949. Millie moved to Ogden where they had 3 children: Doug, Anabeth, and Amy. Millie’s strong-minded determination led to the beginning of her career in the medical field. After Ed’s passing she went back to school and earned her Registered Nurse degree. She took great pride in being an operating room nurse and ended her career as the Director of Nursing at the Ogden Clinic.

She later married Charlie Dunn. They shared many fishing and painting adventures. She loved being part of the Dunn family. They enjoyed being such a part of the Country Hills community. Millie was a good neighbor and made a lot of lifelong friendships while living there.

After Millie’s retirement she was able to spend many creative hours painting beautiful memories for her family. She was an amazing artist. She was also an avid reader. She was a very attentive grandmother and loved spending time with every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Millie is preceded in death by both husbands, 2 sisters, a son-in-law, and many friends and relatives.

She is survived by her sister, Myrle (Chuck) Ehmann and all three of her children; Doug & Cheryl Nelson, Anabeth O’Connor (John deceased), Amy & Paul Jensen; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth & Corey Sparks, Katy & Mike Rodrigues, Erinn & Adam Lutz, Molly O’Connor, Joey & Summer O’Connor, Sarah Jensen, Ashley & Kade Brown, Krystal & Brandon Winters, and 9 great grandchildren.

Because Millie always followed the rules we will be having a traditional funeral held on Wednesday November 9th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. There will be a celebration of Millie’s life at the Country Hills Manor Clubhouse on Tuesday, November 8th from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Come to share a memory, have a tuna melt and a Fresca. Everyone is welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the best way to remember Millie would be to experience the music at a symphony or read a good book and have your favorite drink.

Thanks to Legacy House staff and Encompass Hospice and a special thanks to Mom’s friend, Dr. Seth Lewis.
