Miriam “Mimi” Jensen
EDEN – Miriam “Mimi” Bennion Jensen, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Manor Care Nursing Center in South Ogden.
She was born June 28, 1915 to Parley and Annabell Rollins Bennion in Taylorsville, Utah. She attended South High School in Salt Lake City where she served as student body vice president. She graduated from LDS High School. She was involved in many school and musical activities and spent several wonderful summers on the family sheep ranch in Cokeville, Wyoming.
Mimi married her sweetheart, Earl Samuel Jensen, on June 23, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were sealed by President George Albert Smith. Earl and Mimi made their home in Ogden for many years, where they raised two sons and a daughter. In 1977, they moved to Eden. Earl preceded her in death on October 4, 1977.
Mimi was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, compassionately serving in every organization of the church. She generously taught and shared her infectious love of life and the gospel through her unforgettable enthusiastic and fun personality. She was a member of the Pri-Alum.
She was the President of Conesco, Inc., a family owned business.
Above all, Mimi was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend. She had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed singing. She was a member of the Celeste Singers for over 20 years. She also enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, bowling and horseback riding.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Manor Care Nursing Center and Pinnacle Hospice, especially Keri Squires, for their loving care and kindness.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Steven Earl (Susie) Jensen, Bogota, Colombia; James B. (Kathleen) Jensen, Ogden; Tamara (Grant) Weller, Eden; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Eden Mountain View Cemetery.
