Mitchell Aaron Covert

“Bud, Mitch”

January 13, 1931 ~ July 28, 2017

Our wonderful father left this mortal existence on July 28, 2017. He was born in Preston, Idaho on January 13, 1931. His parents are Reubin Earl Covert and Emily Lucille Forman. Dad was their 4th child.

He grew up on the Sand Hill in Thatcher, Idaho. His father raised sheep and dad spent his summer on the West Mountains Ranch. He called himself a “Mountain William” because he was an educated hillbilly.

He graduated from Grace High School. He attended USU studying for a degree in Civil Engineering.

He married Berlavee Ann Beck in May of 1951 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They raised a family of six children.

Dad worked for the Bureau of Reclamation on the Wanship Dam. He then worked for Phillips Petroleum in New Mexico. After returning to Ogden, he worked as a surveyor. He worked at M. Morrin and Sons and did spillways, freeway bridges, dormitories, fish hatcheries, and sewer treatment plants. His job took him to many interesting places and took his family with him as often as possible.

Dad was a Scoutmaster. He was loved and respected by his boys. He was a Silver Beaver recipient.

He served in many callings in his church. He was a Bishop, High Councilor, teacher, and whatever he was needed to do.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Rheuamah and John Griffin, Newton, UT; Carolyn and Robin Covert, Raleigh, NC; Joel Covert, Ogden; Ann and Jeffrey Covert, Phoenix, AZ; Gina and Shannon Covert, Mojave, AZ; and Suzanne and Jay North, North Ogden; 37 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Mangum, Reno, NV; and sister-in-law, Betty Jo and Evan Ivie, Nauvoo, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Berlavee Ann; parents, and brothers, Freeman and Wayne Covert.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Lewis 4th Ward, 550 East 900 North, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  and Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lanark, Idaho Cemetery on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Sunshine Terrace and the hospice staff and Dr Nathan Call and Dr. Brian Adams for their loving care.
